GLOBAL COLLECTION CURATION: STRATEGY, MANAGEMENT & PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT
AN ONLINE INTENSIVE PROGRAM FOR EMERGING CURATORS & ART PROFESSIONALS
Course online
May 11, 2026 - June 3, 2026
Application Deadline: April 28, 2026
A core path for a curator’s career lies within museums, public institutions, foundations, or private collections. In each setting, the permanent collection—its stewardship, interpretation, and growth—is paramount. This intensive online program equips participants with the practical and theoretical frameworks to excel in this field. We move from analyzing a collection’s historical and conceptual foundations to developing innovative curatorial strategies that activate its legacy for today’s audiences, fostering both critical discourse and public engagement.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Upon completion, participants will be able to:
Analyze the structure, mission, and challenges of different collection models (public, private, institutional).
Understand the core operational aspects of collection management: acquisition, archiving, conservation, and legal care.
Develop curatorial narratives and programming strategies that enhance a collection’s relevance and accessibility.
Navigate the contemporary art market’s roles in collection development.
Conceptualize and present a professional-level curatorial proposal for a specific collection.
METHODOLOGY
The program combines thematic lectures, guest interventions from international professionals, and in-depth case studies of pioneering institutions worldwide. A strong emphasis is placed on interactive discussion and practical application, culminating in a final project presentation.
